Dry Eye SyndromeDry eye happens when your eyes don't make enough tears or the tears evaporate too quickly, causing burning, grittiness, redness, and — surprisingly — watery eyes. It is very common and very treatable.Learn more Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)Conjunctivitis, or pink eye, is inflammation of the clear membrane covering the white of the eye. It can be viral, bacterial, or allergic, and the right treatment depends on the cause.Learn more Floaters & FlashesFloaters are specks or cobwebs that drift across your vision; flashes are brief streaks of light. Most are harmless, but a sudden onset can signal a retinal tear and needs a same-day exam.Learn more BlepharitisBlepharitis is chronic inflammation of the eyelid margins that causes red, itchy, crusty eyelids. It is common, often linked to dry eye, and well controlled with daily lid care.Learn more Chalazion & StyeA stye is a painful, infected bump on the eyelid edge; a chalazion is a firmer, usually painless lump caused by a blocked oil gland. Both typically respond to warm compresses, and persistent ones can be treated in the office.Learn more Corneal UlcerA corneal ulcer is an open sore on the clear front surface of the eye, usually from infection. Refractive Errors (Nearsightedness, Farsightedness & Astigmatism)Refractive errors — nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism — happen when the eye doesn't focus light precisely on the retina, causing blurry vision. They are corrected with glasses, contacts, or surgery.Learn more PresbyopiaPresbyopia is the normal, age-related loss of the eye's ability to focus up close, usually noticed in the early to mid-40s. It is corrected with reading glasses, bifocals or progressives, contacts, or lens options.Learn more Amblyopia (Lazy Eye)Amblyopia, or lazy eye, is reduced vision in one eye because the brain and that eye didn't learn to work together in early childhood. It is most treatable when caught young.Learn more Strabismus (Eye Misalignment)Strabismus is a misalignment of the eyes — one eye turns in, out, up, or down. In children it can cause lazy eye; in adults, new misalignment can cause double vision and may signal a nerve or medical problem.Learn more PseudostrabismusPseudostrabismus is the appearance of crossed eyes in a baby or young child whose eyes are actually aligned — usually because of a wide, flat nasal bridge. It is most often caused by age-related stretching of the eyelid muscle, but a new or sudden droop can signal a nerve or muscle problem and should be evaluated.Learn more

Bell's Palsy & the EyeBell's palsy is sudden weakness of one side of the face. Because the eyelid may not close completely, the eye can dry out and be damaged — protecting the cornea is an important part of treatment.Learn more Migraine & Visual SymptomsMigraine can cause visual aura — shimmering zigzag lines, flashing lights, or blind spots that usually last 5 to 60 minutes. An eye exam helps confirm the cause and rule out retinal or neurological problems.Learn more
